Understanding a Curse
In my study on this subject, I have come to realize that people are their worst enemies as far as curses are concerned. More often than not people dwell on what they perceive of a curse from a “tribal angle” or “traditional angle”. Such that, what is considered a curse in one community does not constitute the same in another.
The belief associated with this curses is a prison unto minds of millions of people all over the world, who do not know that there’s a way to break or prevent them from occurring in the first place. First things first let’s define a curse:
Curse
1. Solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.
2. Appeal or prayer for evil or misfortune to befall someone or something.
From these two definitions it easy to see that this is a spiritual connection invoked to hurt spiritually or emotionally. In most cases, these curses are ministered knowingly or accidentally in a burst of anger, jealousy, or envy.
The scripture is a good source of the genesis of these curses as witnessed in the past ,more so with the children of Israel for refusing to follow Hashem Adonai's commands.So it would be best to look at them in that angle of the Bible.
In the scripture is where we get generational curse and all sort of other curses, their causes and ways to avoid or break them.
Leviticus 26:39-45 36And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
Lev 26:37And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
Lev 26:38And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
Lev 26:39And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
Lev 26:40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
Lev 26:41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
Lev 26:42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
Lev 26:43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her Sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
Lev 26:44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
Lev 26:45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
Numbers 14:18-19The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
All these sorts of things affect children in their lives negatively. But suppose a child says to himself or herself “I’ll prove my parents wrong” what happens...children make it in life and live to tell an inspiring story.
So in a nutshell curse will only affect you if you feel that you are cursed and believe it in your mind and even confess it.
Breaking the curse or preventing it
1.Believe in God for all curses were broken at Calvary…
2.Be positive in your mind not accepting negativity in your mind
3.Forgiving the people you’ve wronged or felt you’ve wronged…
4.Get rid of fear and insecurity in your life.
Breaking curses in relation to a generational curse
1.Praying daily
2.Staying away from negative minded people
3.Surrounding oneself with divine material, Bible Music, and others.
4.Repentance: Judges 3:9when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
,2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Yahshua from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Num 14:19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
Deuteronomy 5:9shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
For breaking the covenants of Hashem Adonai the children Israel were visited with a curse that would have them taken from bondage to bondage until they repented of their sins when the curse would be broken. It’s duly noted that iniquity and adultery were some of the most visited upon as well as well as the fourth commandment; respecting parents. If any of this is transgressed then the consequences follow.
Any other curse that is not related to the‘breaking of Gods commands’ is null and void if one chooses to overlook it. You may ask how….?
A curse is a negative energy that is administered in anger and affects one psychologically and emotionally and in some cases bodily. If you choose to accept this negative energy it will surely affect you because you are a spiritual being. Just like if you are blessed by someone and you choose not to believe then the blessings don’t come but if you believe the blessings follow you. Blessings are positive energies psychologically.
·You’ve heard parents curse their children in many cases by saying;
·You’ll remain poor,
·You’ll never make it,
·You’ll end up like your drunken father or mother,
Romans 12:1-2I Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
If you feel that the curse on you was as a result of iniquity in the family from generations, break the cycle by trusting in Hashem Adonai for He says the sins of the father can only be visited in the child if he or she follows his father’s ways. But if they change, He blesses them irrespective
Ezekiel 18:19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. The York of bondage will be lifted.
1 peter1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1 peter 2:23-25 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1Pe 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
