Guard Your Youth save Your Future

Did you know that 18-28 can be the most frustrating age bracket if not well handled? This decade can be the worst and the onset of all your woes in your latter life. Why? Let me explain.

This is the age when most people complete their academics and pressure to achieve their dreams and become esteemed members of the society is too high. When you look at the friends around you, they all seem to be doing something substantial and living lifestyles that you can only dream of. After applying for jobs for a number of times and being turned down, the disappointment can be greater than you ever imagined. Sadly, it is in this age that most people get consumed by alcohol and other drugs due to disillusionment. The situation is worsened by seeing people who you had studied with succeeding whereas you are struggling and having your friends reduce drastically.

The mere thought that the many years of study have led to a pathetically paying job can be traumatizing. When friends start discussing about where they schooled you coil dismally because it no longer matters which academic level you reached if you are living in destitution. The worst mistake one can do at this time is trying to date; there is nothing romantic one can offer. How can you even hold a romantic conversation when your entire day was spent pulling a cart, working in a construction site or walking around dropping applications? The only alternative may seem to sit back and watch as ladies of your age get married to older people because they are "romantic" enough to attract them. At this critical stage, the most basic skills that ought to be imparted in an individual are perseverance, gratitude for the little one has, social skills, career growth, godliness, integrity and personal responsibility. This is where The Church of God 7th Day comes in!

Every year, The Church organizes a one-week general conference for all youths. The conference is normally at the end of the year and doors are normally open for all youths irrespective of their religion. During the week, professional resource persons are invited to guide youths on matters relating to career, marriage, academics, life skills and godliness. It is a period of utmost renewal and knowledge acquisition as a holistic approach is applied to equip attendees with everything they require for better lives. Further, team building activities and numerous games are put in place to help the youths socialize with one another. The climax of the camp is normally on Shabbat (Saturday) when various groups showcase their talents in singing, recitations and acting.

This year’s camp which was just concluded last week was one of a kind. Youths converged at The Church's headquarters in Nairobi from all corners of the country. The event was amazingly remarkable as testimonies from attendees attested. The General Overseer, pastor Karanja, alongside youth minister, pastor Mugoya crowned the event by their unfailing presence. The National committee office chaired by Steve Kamau deserves the loudest applause for its devotion to make the event a success, not mentioning the finger-licking dishes prepared all through. Next year will be a better one. No charges for anyone apart from a little amount of about Kshs. 1000 (10 US Dollars) for food. Book a date with us and have your life transformed.
