Mairi is characterized with cool temperatures, the perfect environment for anyone having a long dry fasting period.
Mairi is a name not very popular among many Kenyans. However, when it comes to members of the Church of God 7th day, the name is synonymous with solitude, self-retrospection and divine blessings. Mairi is a small town in Murang’a county, central Kenya where many people especially the youths gather every year for prayers and fasting. The event is usually a three day-long dry fasting though there are some members who avail themselves for 5, 7 and 14 days prior, to carry out this divine duty. Since inception, the event has been taking place during the August holidays, strategically planned to attract high attendance especially among high school and college students. This year’s event was concluded on Friday 18th August with an all-time high record in attendance. Many youths from Murang’a county and even neighboring regions of Nairobi, Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga and Kiambu counties attended.
Mairi is characterized with cool temperatures, the perfect environment for anyone having a long dry fasting period. Many lives have been delivered, chains and curses have been broken, countless miracles witnessed because of this annual event. We will always remain grateful to Elohim for this occasion. May God bless the organizers and church leadership at Mairi for this initiative.
