Christmas, the old age lie

No Sir, there's absolutely no escaping the fact that this Roman fable comes down to us from paganism. It cannot be defended scripturally and is in fact heathen both in origin as well as in character.

From 17th to 24th December the ancient Romans celebrated the Saturnalia. This festival was in honour of their planetary god Saturn

Rule of Law was suspended... magistrates and the law enforcement machinery took leave. It ushered in a period of unbridled levity, sexual license and other social aberrations. No one could be held accountable for their actions. Gay parties were held with naked people moving from one house to another and from street to street giving and receiving gifts.

An unfortunate man was identified and designated the Lord of Misrule. He was plied with all manner of food and drink and other carnal pleasures. On the last day, he was paraded through the streets, beaten, pelted with stones, faecal matter, rotten eggs, etc. They finally crucified him, believing that they had thus eradicated evil from their midst.

The 25th of December was also the Birthday of the Roman sun-god and was referred to as Natalis Solis Invicti (Birthday of the Unconquered Sun). Of course this birthday dated further into antiquity as it began with the birth of Babylon's Tammuz (mentioned in Ezekiel 8:14). This Babylonian deity was the "Son" in the ancient Babylonian trinity.

Even the Christmas carols, trees, Father Christmas, bonfires etc are all pagan in origin and nature. The Bible is against the practice of calling anyone "father" on earth (Matthew 23:9). Who then is this bearded gift-giving Scandinavian old man?! His Latin name is Santa Claus, the anglicized version being "St Nicholas". Surprisingly, the devil is also called "Old Nick" and "that ANCIENT serpent" (Revelation 12:9)!! Isn't this too much of a coincidence? In fact, the name Santa is actually a scrambling of the name SATAN! The Bible is also against the religious adorning of trees ( Jeremiah 10:1-3). Evergreen trees had been a symbol of the Babylonian god Nimrod, who after death was supposedly reborn in Tammuz.

So it is easy to see from the foregoing that this Roman festival is wholly pagan... there's little that's biblical about it. From the gaiety, the carols, the gift giving, Santa Claus, Christmas trees, midnight masses and even the very date (December 25th) are all patently relics of heathenism!

The Bible mention only two birthdays, that of Pharaoh in Genesis 40:20, and that of Herod in Mark 6:21. It is instructive to note that both celebrations were of pagan kings and that in each case human life was lost. In fact in the days of the Roman Saturnalia, human sacrifice was common as was the eating of human-shaped cakes! Nowhere does the Bible command the celebration of birthdays, let alone the Lord's. On the contrary the Scriptures tell us that the day of death is better than the day of birth.

Geographically, the sun is overhead the Tropic of Capricorn (23 and a half degrees south of the Equator) on 22nd December. This indicates that it is already Winter in the Northern Hemisphere ( which includes Israel). Yet the Bible tells that shepherds were watching over their flocks outdoors when Yahshua was born!! ( Luke 2:8). Given the extremely cold winter temperatures, this is an impossibility! Simply put, the Lord was not born anywhere near December.

We are also told that the star hang over Christmas trees represents the star that guided the Magi to Yahshuas birth place. But why does it have to be shaped exactly like the Baphomet Pentagram?!

We are further told that gifts are exchanged because the Magi presented gifts to the infant Lord. Curiously though, the gifts exchanged today are not given to the Lord but are given to friends what Roman pagans did!

Let people celebrate this pagan festival if they must, but it should not be foisted upon a deluded world as a practice from the Bible.
