The fridge-cold Limuru town of Kiambu County experienced a full week of unceasing warmth after COGYOK (Church of God Youth Organization of Kenya) pitched its tents for an open air outreach. For a full week, the organization’s public address system ranted and rattled the chilly weather of Limuru swirling the mist to wavy smoky vapor.

The youths’ stamping and thumping of feet during praise spelt nothing less than vivacity and renewed power. The residents were also not spared as vigor squeezed them from their hearths to the foot of a humble dais that oozed hope, counsel and restoration.

The event kicked off on 17th June and continued up to 24th when COGYOK reluctantly waved goodbye to an audience that was unwilling to let go. Judging by their comments on the church's Facebook wall, residents were superbly enthused and their wish was if the outreach continued. This desire communicates to COGYOK that there is a lot of follow up to be done. A special assignment goes to the main catchment church, Mutarakwa under the leadership of Elder Muchicho Mwaura, which is charged with the responsibility of welcoming and weaning the expected spiritual babes. Throughout the event, God’s presence was greatly felt and the support of the generous church members was witnessed. Special thanks go to the general overseer who, with a view to revamp evangelism, formed COGYOK in the early 80s. This initiative has borne fruits bountifully and the results are overt for all to see. Another personage to be acclaimed is the sitting youth president, Steve Kamau. He must have been so blessed not to break down from the physical draining resulting from the obvious industriousness expected from him during such an event. He handled the assignment with inexplicable gusto and marshaled all the proceedings with divine prowess, all the other members of COGYOK matching behind him.

Bearing in mind the successes reaped from the above event, COGYOK looks forward to an even more fulfilling outreach next year. A clarion call is posed to all youths to turn up for such events in huge numbers and to more generously contribute in support of the same.
