Messianic Women of Kenya (MEWAK)

Messianic Women Association of Kenya (MEWAK)

The Messianic Women Association of Kenya (MEWAK) is a vital pillar within the church, comprising all married women who play a crucial role in the spiritual and social growth of the congregation. Women form the largest group in the church, outnumbering men, and their contributions are invaluable in shaping the church community.

Unlike COGYOK and COGMEA, which have three executive offices, MEWAK operates with two. However, the membership structure remains the same, with eight members serving in leadership roles.

The Role of Married Women in the Church

Married women serve as the backbone of the church, fulfilling multiple roles that strengthen both the congregation and individual families. They stand as role models to young women, demonstrating godly virtues in marriage, family life, and community service. Their presence provides a strong support system for their husbands, encouraging spiritual leadership and stability within their households.

Recognizing their significant responsibilities at home, these women remain committed to their duties in the church, never compromising their calling. Their primary mission is intercession, praying fervently for the well-being of the congregation and ensuring that strong men and youths rise to defend the church against spiritual adversities.

Key Activities and Contributions

  1. Mentorship and Guidance: MEWAK leaders counsel young and older mothers on how to navigate family life while remaining steadfast in faith. Their teachings help instill discipline, love, and wisdom in the next generation.
  2. Teaching and Nurturing Children: As mothers and caretakers, married women play a fundamental role in the spiritual upbringing of children, ensuring that biblical values are passed down effectively.
  3. Church Beautification and Welfare: MEWAK members take an active role in maintaining the church's physical and spiritual environment, contributing to its cleanliness, decoration, and general upkeep to reflect the glory of God.
  4. Annual Meetings and Seminars: The association organizes annual general meetings and workshops to assess progress, encourage development, and strengthen the bond among women from different regions. These gatherings serve as moments of reflection and strategic planning for continuous growth.

Through their unwavering dedication, married women in the church help build a firm foundation for future generations. Their influence extends beyond their families, fostering a thriving, prayerful, and well-grounded church community.
