Ask any fisherman and he will tell you that the most improbable thing, actually next to impossibility, is finding a shoal of fish assembled at the river shores awaiting an angler. It may sound bizarre but this happened at Safaricom Indoor Arena, when masses gathered for a thanksgiving ceremony of a renowned media personality Gathoni wa Muchomba who was celebrating twenty years in her career. In addition, she was sensitizing the public about the plight intersex children. It is in this pomp event that Church of God 7th Day (COG7) stumbled on the privilege of being requested to lead in praise as well as stage performances of the various groups that she (COG7) has.

The appointment followed the undisputable fact that Tzedakah (Hebrew for ‘works of charity’), one of the ministries in COG7, keeps its ears wide open waiting for such opportunities to come up and thus nodded to the request promptly. Another ministry that reaped quite handsomely from this appointment is The National Evangelical Outreach (NEO) which literally secured a platform at the heart of the country’s capital to publicize the church and remind Kenyans of a soon-coming King-The Messiah. Rarely do such opportunities come by; having an already gathered multitude and the remaining task is to just spread the word. All selected groups prepared adequately for the event, not to be a disgrace to the church.

13th Nov, 2016 was not business as usual. Hundreds of Church of God seventh day members joined other masses at the stadium but with one objective in mind: preaching through performances, adornments and demeanor. Their adornment was so spectacular that all the people present noticed it. Different choirs from various church branches around the country had availed themselves not mentioning the most vibrant organ of the church: COGYOK-the youths-who mystified the masses with their effervescent performances. In fact, though they expected to perform only once, they were requested to do an extra performance which affirmed the proposition that the glory of youngsters is their strength. With the captivating moves on stage, they almost resembled contortionists.

Despite diversity in places of origin, all the choirs and youth groups presented harmoniously as the masses cheered on. One of the most fascinating things is the harmony that the church demonstrated in all the things members did including praise and performances. The entire church deserves nothing less than a thunderous applause for everything each of the members contributed, no matter how small. Also, blessed be our charismatic General Overseer, Pastor Kuria Karanja, for his indescribable devotion in campaigning for the event and securing the church such a golden opportunity to reach thousands of people since the event was live in the airwaves. It was an event that requires proper documentation for future reminiscence.
