Is it possible to live a Messianic life even when in the midst of a polluted world so permissive and full of immorality?
Kenyatta university messianic students association, abbreviated KUMESA, is an association comprising of all messianic students studying at Kenyatta University {main campus}. The association came into being nearing end of last year. The group's main aim is spiritual growth, moral uprightness and preaching to all within the institution. So far we have had three new converts.
In October last year, the group was privileged in a great way and we saw the hand of Elohim. It was on this month that we established plans to register our association amidst various challenges. Some of these challenges included getting someone who would meet all the requirements to be our patron. He had to be a senior administrator or lecturer within the institution. Elohim answered our prayers and Dr. Wesley, who is a messianic, joined the institution in the same month. He was of great help to the group during this process. The group is now fully registered and officially recognized.
Currently, KUMESA has a population of about 30 members and we are still campaigning so that others could join us given that we are more than this figure. It's currently headed by Godfrey Githiiyi as the Chairman. We plan to use posters, social media platforms and banners so that we can create awareness to those who have not yet heard of KUMESA. We normally attend Sabbath service at Church of God Seventh Day, Ruiru branch under the shepherd-ship of of Pastor Kuria Karanja
Our activities include Friday fellowships for welcoming Sabbath, from 6pm to 9pm held at science complex {sc7}. On Wednesday, we have mid-week prayers from 7pm to 7:30pm. On Sunday we have choir day for the upcoming KUMESA choir at the university arboretum from 3pm to 6pm. More activities will be incorporated soon including morning devotions.
Our main project is purchasing fully equipped public address system. So far, we have purchased a guitar achieved in the past one month. Plans are underway so that by September of this year, we will have a keyboard once we are back from holiday. These will aid in preaching the gospel. Though faced with challenges we will achieve all through Yahshua who strengthens us.
In the past one month, we launched a program which was aimed at reaching out to students in other campuses. This was done through creating a whatsapp group where we are able to reach other students. It was successful with more students still registering. We thank Elohim for these.
Lastly, we as KUMESA would like to tell other youths that it is possible to live a Messianic life even when in the midst of a polluted world so permissive and full of immorality. We are the light to the world. We as KUMESA, we remain and will always be the Ambassors of Messiah here at K.U.
