The atmosphere was grave serious with all the faces having inscriptions of seriousness as the service proceeded.

This evening has been more solemn than a court session. It being Pesach, hundreds of cogmers (Church of God members) gathered in different feast centers around the country to partake the Lord's Supper. In Nairobi, which is the church's headquarters, the temple was literary full to the brim to the extent that some members had to partake while standing. Everyone was attentively following the proceedings from the beginning as General Overseer, Pst. Karanja conducted the service.

The atmosphere was grave serious with all the faces having inscriptions of seriousness as the service proceeded. Overseer Karanja urged partakers to evaluate themselves before receiving the body and blood of Messiah as prescribed in the scriptures. He challenged all of them to take after Yahshua who, despite being a king, washed his disciples' feet and served them. To explain Yahshua's majesty, he related his experience two weeks ago when he fellowshipped on a sabbath with a king in Malawi. He explained how amazing it had been fellowshipping under the same roof with a man surrounded by guards, servants and maids as well as his entire family. "If such a mortal being could look mighty in the eyes of other mortals, how mighty is our Lord?" he queried as members nodded in awe.

He further cautioned partakers against being deceived by some denominations that mislead people on how Passover is partook. He pointed out that some take breakfast, lunch or evening meals other than supper as the Bible instructs. Others offer their followers leavened bread, wine or other "junk" foodstuff. The Lord's Supper must be literal supper with all the prescriptions followed to the latter. Another important point to take note of is that after the Last Supper, Disciples never went home; they went to the mountain as was the custom in preparation of the seven-day feast of the unleavened bread. Similarly, cogmers are expected to remain in their respective centers for the feast of unleavened bread.

No other time is protocol normally defied like during this particular time. I normally feel so humbled being served by church elders who forget their senior positions to serve hundreds of people. This evening, I was moved by their humility. They were twelve in number, just like the disciples. This was not preplanned but I believe it was coincidence. After serving partakers, they would go back to the altar and most contrary to the norm, the senior most man in the church (Overseer Karanja) would ignore his seniority and serve the elders. What a gesture! I always see the scripture about Yahshua wash his disciples' feet come to life. The first day is over; seven more days ahead. Numerous of our reporters are camping in all the centers all over the country and outside. Keep abreast as we are more than prepared to keep you informed on all the happenings round the clock in good time.
