The Bible is full of records of events where God moved mightily to deliver his people, the children of Israel from calamities that had befallen them. When I read these stories, I am usually thrilled as I internalize how occurrences unfolded to pave way for miraculous deliverance of God's people. I will now present to you a story of one man, Evanson Muiruri Njogu, who was delivered from demonic forces awhile back. As I meet to interview him, he greets me with a wide banana smile, a reflection of the joy in his heart after his miraculous deliverance. He is accompanied by Elder Munyui Kiura, who ministers at the Church of God 7 th Day in Kimbimbi, Kirinyaga county.
Evanson hails from the same village as Elder Munyui. He is a man of a few words and therefore his story was eloquently narrated by Elder Munyui to the congregation at Eastleigh section 3, Nairobi, during the Feast of Unleavened Bread 2016.
It was back in August 2013 when Evanson's home was attacked by demons. They were first intrigued by these occurrences, only to realize later that they were already under attack by satanic powers. The demons were demolishing some of their houses, setting other houses ablaze, burning their clothes, mixing cooked food with soil, and dispersing their cattle and sheep from their fold, among other shocking occurrences. "We used to see walls collapsing without having been touched by anyone. Our bodies were so emaciated, because we hardly ate; anytime food or tea was prepared, the demons could mix it with soil just before it was served" Evanson sadly added. Also, the demons had emptied maize bags and scattered the grains all over the compound. Interestingly, they didn't spare fruit trees either. They used to drop ripe and unripe mangoes from their trees and step on them while on the ground to mash them. The demons further extended their mischievous behavior to livestock. They used to cut tying ropes into pieces, thus letting the animals lose, to go on rampage on other people's farms.
This spectacle attracted the attention of major media houses in Kenya, and as a result, news spread far and wide like bushfire. Consequently, members of public pitied them and concerned Christians from neighboring Sunday churches flocked to pray for them. However, they were mercilessly attacked by the demons. The demons were ruthlessly throwing stones at them, at lightning speeds. They were greatly frightened, left hurriedly and were seen no more. Evanson continued to be attacked for four months.
When Elder Munyui Kiura heard about this spectacle, he decided to visit Evanson to console him. After he arrived at the scene, he witnessed a cupboard fall on the ground without anyone touching it. He later on called the General Overseer, Pastor Kuria Karanja, who resides at Nairobi to go and pray for Evanson's deliverance.
After he arrived at Evanson's home, Pastor Kuria Karanja prayed for him. He told him not to worry, but instead have faith in Yahshua. He asked them to cook tea and pick mangoes from their farm. Miraculously, no demon dared to either put soil in the tea or spoil the mangoes. Evanson's family was able to eat food peacefully on that day, for the first time in four months. However, after Pastor Karanja left for Nairobi, the demons struck again that evening. The same old drama continued. Elder Munyui contacted Pastor Karanja, who advised him to convene all men in his local church for a 3 day fasting prayer. They all agreed and on the third day of the fast, those demons created more drama than they had ever done before. "It was after the ninth hour prayer (3 am), that we heard stones being thrown at us, moving at terrific speeds. I particularly remember hearing sounds of fast moving stones pass near my ears. We didn't despair but instead continued in prayer and rebuking the demons. We were praising Elohim for deliverance because we were convinced that those stones were just like the last kicks of a dying horse, similar to what happened in Mark 9:20. Yahshua had rebuked a demon and as it came out of the child, it thrust him on the ground to an extent that the surrounding people thought he was dead" said the jovial Elder.
After a short while, the prayerful men heard a deafening sound of ripping ironsheets. The demons had thrown a very big stone and broken part of the roof. "At some point, I wondered how dramatic demons could be, especially after we heard the sound of a guitar being played from the electric power lines nearby. There are electric power lines passing close to Evanson's home and amusingly, they were producing harmonics to scare us, at the touch of demonic powers" said the Elder with his usual easy smile.
They still continued in praise nevertheless. After about ten minutes, the noise cleared and since then, the demons have never come back. Its now two years down the line since the drama stopped. Evanson and his family were totally delivered and as a result, they chose to follow Yahshua as their only savior, to serve Elohim, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God delivered them and restored joy and blessings in their lives.
This testimony is an example of how the power of Elohim is still at work in our present generation. If we ask Elohim about anything, through the name of Yahshua, it will be given unto us as recorded in John 14:14. He delivers his people from misery and powers of darkness through his son Yahshua, the name above all other names, in heaven and on earth. May Adonai be praised forever! Amen.
